Common questions
3D printed shoes, answered
Can you wash 3D printed shoes?
Yes. Rinse them under a tap or in the shower and air-dry — they are usually dry within minutes. Because the shoe is printed as one piece of solid polymer with no fabric lining, foam insole or glued seams, there is nothing inside to soak up water or come apart when wet. Avoid very hot water, which can soften the material.
Are 3D printed shoes comfortable?
Yes, though they feel different from foam trainers. The lattice compresses under the heel and ball of the foot and springs back, giving cushioning with noticeably less bulk. There is no break-in period because there are no stiff seams or glued panels to soften. Most people find the main adjustment is the lack of a padded sock-lining against the foot.
Are 3D printed shoes durable?
They remove the parts that usually fail first. Ordinary trainers come apart at the glue lines and stitching between the upper and the sole; a printed shoe has neither, because the upper and midsole are one continuous piece. The polymer is flexible rather than brittle, so it bends rather than cracks. The lattice can be cut by sharp debris, so they suit pavements, poolsides and gyms better than rough trail use.
What are 3D printed shoes made of?
Ours are printed from ELSTO 1000, a recyclable elastomer that is 53% bio-based. It is manufactured using a HALS (DLP-based) 3D printing process and complies with EU REACH and US CP65 chemical-safety standards. There is no leather, no textile and no EVA or PVC foam in the shoe.
Are 3D printed shoes good for hot weather?
That is their strongest use case. The open lattice moves air across the foot instead of trapping it, and with no fabric lining there is nothing to absorb sweat or hold odour the way mesh trainers do. In Gulf summers this is the practical difference: feet stay cooler, and the shoes can be rinsed and worn again the same day rather than left to dry out overnight.
Where can I buy 3D printed shoes in Dubai or the UAE?
XTRUDE is a UAE-based retailer of 3D printed footwear, shipping free anywhere in the UAE with 14-day returns. Most 3D printed footwear brands sell from the US or Europe, which means import duty and long delivery times; ordering locally avoids both. Browse the sneakers and slippers collections to see what is in stock.
What size should I order?
Measure your foot rather than ordering your usual size. These shoes are sized by actual foot length in centimetres, and they tend to run large — someone who normally wears EU 37 often needs a 36. Every product page has a size guide with the measurement for each size. If you are between sizes, size down.
Do they smell after a while?
They do not develop odour the way foam and mesh shoes do, because odour comes from bacteria growing in absorbed sweat and there is no absorbent material in the shoe. If they do pick up a smell from heavy use, rinsing them removes it — which is not true of a glued foam midsole.
